Commissioned sales people are some of the most highly paid people in the world. From Realtors to medical supply sales reps, commission sales people are almost always directly compensated for their efforts. But it’s what happens with the commission income that causes so many problems. Commission incomes traditionally cause major fluctuations in monthly household income. This fluctuation can bring even the most seasoned sales pro to his/her knees.

So how do you take advantage of the high income potential of commission income when you are simply trying to pay your bills in the slow months? Even a $200k/year income can be difficult to manage if the income arrives sporadically and in chunks. Naturally, you will develop a survival plan. This plan will allow you to get by. This plan will allow you to mask major money management problems. It would be kind to call your survival plan a band-aid. It’s so much less. Your goal should never be to “just survive” on any income, especially if your income has no ceiling. Your poor household money management will stifle your income. Every time that you make a sale to save your budget, it becomes even harder to fix your underlying money management problems.
