This week, we met Pepe.
Pepe’s main concerns, in his own words: “I am 27 and have been following your advice for two years now. I should say I have had a sincere interest in your advice for two years and have been following it for about a year. In the past two years, I have paid off close to 60k in consumer debt. I still have about 30k to go, but I am getting to a place where I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I used to just try to do what I could financially hoping for a better future, and now that future is a real possibility. I will be getting married in January, 2018, and more than anything I’d like to know we have a good financial plan in place to build our foundation. Three and a half years ago I got out of treatment for alcoholism, and life has changed a lot since then.
I’m in the car business, and since then I’ve gotten a much better sales job and am now used car manager. I made $36,000 my first year out of treatment, and now I expect to make close to $80,000 this year. My fiancé and I would like move from my condo into a house within the next year or two, but most importantly, we would like to ensure we are headed on a path to income independence. That may be 30-40 years from now, but that is the goal.”
