How roboadvisors dealt with the wild market swings

This was one of the more volatile weeks in the history of financial markets. Traditionally, investors and advisors sort-out the emotions and urges to make changes in what's become an age-old dance. You call your advisor freaking out, they tell you to calm down, and then you choose whether or not to believe them. By the way, there's zero reason to panic. Good advisors and good clients know the dance is ridiculous, and avoid it like the plague.

But what happens when you advisor is a computer? A robot. There hasn't been a week like this since the advent of roboadvisors. I talked to Jon Stein, CEO of Betterment, to find-out what their week was like. They weren't surprised by the actions of their investors, and neither was I.
