Meet Maude
Age: 27
Maude’s main concerns, in her own words:
My husband and I have a 6 month old son and just found out we are expecting again (HOORAY!!!). He is a civil engineer and I am an accountant for a religious organization. We always said that once we had 2 kids, I would stay home with them since daycare is so ridiculously expensive (our son goes to one now). Since we are having our 2nd child much sooner than expected, we are wondering how to make it work on my husband’s income (or if it’s even possible). We paid off our student loans and car payments and have no other debt besides a mortgage. We know we need to be saving for college and emergencies, but find it hard to navigate where to put our money and how much. We also tithe 10% of our income to our local church and other organizations. Can we really afford for me to stay home once baby #2 arrives?
