Some of the best stuff I hear comes from interaction with my clients. I was talking with a thirty-something couple last night and the husband says, “I know that I have to save for college and for my retirement, but I figure that a college education can be financed (if it had to be), while I can’t finance my retirement.”
It’s hard to disagree with that. We went on to talk about how many times financial decisions appear to be either/or type decisions, but with the right amount of discipline they can turn into both/and decisions. My client is right though. You can’t finance retirement without getting into really big trouble.
