Newsflash – You Need To Try

I often speak about the importance of paying attention to the way money affects your marriage. The reality is that money and marriage communication can be very difficult. It often involves two people that have different ways of doing things. But, that doesn’t mean you should stop trying. Let’s get uncomfortable for a little bit.

Are you stealing from your family when you make a poor financial decision ? If you make the decision to spend $300 per month on dining out, yet you don’t save money for the future, are you robbing your family of it’s chance for financial stability? Many times the answer is yes. If you spend money on an expensive golf habit, and don’t save money for your child’s education, are you cheating junior? Ouch. I know.

Everybody wants to be financially well off, but most people aren’t willing to do the dirty work. In other words: everybody wants to eat steak, but no one wants to kill the cow. Wishing and hoping for a good outcome will never positively affect your income.

Do something hard and things will start to come easy.

  1. Thanks for the post Pete! It really is difficult to have these kinds of conversations. Fortunately, I am compelled to do by the fear of what happened to my step-brother, whose EX-wife racked up over $60k of debt when they were together. He is remarried, but still digging his way out of that ditch. Oh, and the cow pic is LEGIT!
